Valparaiso is home of the annual Popcorn Festival, held on the first Saturday after Labor Day. This fun-filled day of popcorn deliciousness honors Orville Redenbacher, a former resident who built a popcorn factory right in Valparaiso. Redenbacher participated in most of the festival's parades until his death in 1995. The festival also features racing events and a balloon launch in addition to typical fair activities.
Valparaiso is also home of the distinguished Valparaiso University and is just an hour east of Chicago. V-Line buses stop at the South Shore Line for fast and easy access to the Windy City and all its accommodations.
When you visit Livemercial, be sure to take some time to see the sights of Valparaiso as well!
